PREPARING STUDENTS FOR LIFE'S
ADVENTURE
"inspiring children,
upholding families,
encouraging thought, engaging the community"
Fieldcrest
Montessori School offers an integrated, highly individualized,
academically challenging program designed to meet the developmental
needs of children from six-weeks through 18-years of age.
Children
are ready to
master skills and concepts at differing ages, for this reason,
Fieldcrest Montessori places students, according to developmental level
into groups that span approximately three years. These multi-age groups
allow teachers to interact with their students for at least three
years, getting to know their individual needs and encouraging learning
by introducing concepts at developmentally appropriate times. This
creates a nurturing atmosphere where younger children are motivated to
move ahead by watching the older children, and older children reinforce
their own learning by helping the younger ones.
Students
continually
take responsibility for their own learning, working in groups to
inquire, investigate, and demonstrate their understanding of concepts
across disciplines. A typical Elementary project combines laboratory
experiments, historical research, investigation of current governmental
policies and their implications, report writing and exploration of
personal responsibility.
